Corrosion Engineer

Location: Canonsburg, PA (relocation available)

Duration: Full-time/Direct Hire

Salary: 75 - 110k (depending on experience)



Softworld is currently recruiting for a Corrosion Engineer to work on-site in Canonsburg, PA (+ travel to field sites). The ideal candidate will have an engineering degree is preferred, with a corrosion engineer degree being a plus. The ideal candidate should have experience in natural gas and liquid pipelines, the ability to manage multiple projects, and strong knowledge of cathodic protection systems. NACE CP Level 1 certification is required (Level 2 preferred), and familiarity with CFR 192 or 195 and excellent communication skills are essential



The Corrosion Engineer ensures Company's external, internal and atmospheric corrosion control programs are compliant with federal and state specific pipeline safety regulations. Provides direct supervision and guidance to corrosion control personnel. Provides subject matter expertise to support the Company's engineering, operating and construction groups to ensure corrosion control program is designed and implemented within industry standards and guidelines in a cost-efficient manner. Represents the Company in matters of corrosion control compliance with regulatory authorities.

This level II position works under direct supervision of Supervisor, Integrity Management and requires ability to travel to field locations (25% on average).

Key Accountabilities

Serve as corrosion control technical lead and authority for all Company natural gas pipeline operations
Direct Company's daily corrosion control program and make strategic recommendations for improvement in equipment, processes and procedures
Develop scopes and budgetary estimates for corrosion control and mitigation projects. Projects include but are not limited to impressed current CP system installations, AC Mitigation, CIS, and test station installations.
Oversee the scheduling, organization and implementation of corrosion control and mitigation projects, ensuring deadlines and budget are met. Projects include but are not limited to impressed current CP system installations, AC Mitigation, CIS, and test station installations.
Maintain integrity and ensure quality of corrosion control records and held within PCS database
Analyze corrosion control data (CP Survey, ACM Survey, CIS, etc.) and document action plans with specific timelines for action and remediation within standards and regulatory code
Develop corrosion control scorecard to track metrics for and drive program compliance
Supervise and direct Company and 3rd party contract corrosion control personnel completing both routine survey and project work
Assist corrosion technicians with troubleshooting and problem-solving from the office and in the field as required
Assist in development of annual O&M and Capital corrosion control budgets
Ensure Company and contractor personnel are current with Operator Qualifications as needed for performance of corrosion related work
Serve as the lead for corrosion program audit readiness and preparation
Assist the Compliance team in representing control data and activities in regulatory audits
Manage and continuously improve DOT O&M corrosion control procedures
Stay current on existing and proposed federal and state regulations that affect corrosion control program and update management on such changes
Incorporate industry best practices to improve the Company's corrosion control program where approved


Minimum Education & Experience Requirements


Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Minimum 3 years of corrosion control experience in oil and gas or related industry

Preferred Requirements
3 years as Corrosion Engineer with oil and gas pipelines preferred
NACE CP (Cathodic Protection) Level 2 certification required with ability to attain Level 3;existing NAE CP Level 3 certification preferred
Possess & maintain a valid driver's license
Ability to attain credentials as a NACE CIP (Coating Inspector) Level 1 within 1 year of employment;existing NACE CIP Level 1 or 2 is preferred
Current experience with PCS Data Manager, PCS Survey Manager, and PCS Data Collectors
Good organizational skills with flexibility to handle multiple projects and to prioritize assignments in a fast-paced, changing work environment is required
Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills
Analytical ability as well as experience interfacing effectively with vendors, contractors and company employees
Technical and interpersonal skills with the ability to analyze various aspects of operations (i.E., technical, contractual and financial)
Strong computer skills;proficient with word processing and spreadsheets and presentation software
Ability to work / interact closely with work teams;field operations, engineering and management
Ability to travel to field locations as required and to conduct field evaluations/inspections in a pipeline right-of-way environment and/or all weather conditions
Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
