Job Description:
  • We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our Combat Mission Systems business in ground combat vehicles.
  • The candidate will work closely with one or more of our electronics suppliers to provide electrical engineering support in the manufacture of printed circuit board assembly (PCBA)/circuit card assembly (CCA) and the associated system Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) enclosures for one of our combat vehicle systems.
  • The selected candidate will be co-located with assigned suppliers to ensure an ongoing high-level of production quality is met.
  • The engineer must have experience in the design and manufacture of PCBAs/CCAs and will help resolve supplier quality and manufacturing process concerns in direct support of production.
  • The engineer will investigate, evaluate, and support the resolution of supplier quality problems by conducting defect investigations, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects.
  • Strong communication skills are required to ensure suppliers understand requirements and expectations;make progress reports and present findings.
  • The role requires familiarity with, and experience in, IPC-A-600 and IPC J-STD-001, as well as subordinate IPC standards/guidelines.
  • A working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 is also strongly desired.
  • Expected Travel requirement: Regular work location for the candidate is at the supplier facility (identified above).
  • Travel to other locations such as client facilities or other supplier facilities may be required infrequently: Approximately 10% or less.

Additionally, the candidate will:
  • Support team led problem solving and root-cause analysis activities with assigned supplier to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
  • Evaluate the impact of nonconforming products and assess suppliers' corrective actions.
  • Help suppliers with process improvements to ensure to resolve manufacturing process concerns.
  • Drive "Zero Defect" mentality within the supply base.
  • Participate in Technical Interchange Meetings within the Integrated Product Team. Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

Skills Required:
  • Effective, practical problem solver using structured problem-solving methods and systems.
  • Understanding of technical drawing requirements with ability to determine compliance.
  • Computer skills to include MS Office Suite and related industry software applications.
  • Effective, clear communicator with strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Skills Preferred:
  • The following skills are preferred but are not required for the position:
  • Design of PCBA/CCA for aerospace or defense industries
  • Working knowledge of MIL-PRF-31032, MIL-PRF-55110, IPC-A-610, and IPC-A-620
  • Fabrication processes, equipment, test, and instrumentation common in the Aerospace and Defense Industries
  • Production line validation, test, equipment, instrumentation, and qualification of fabricated products
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality System, AS9102C First Article Requirements, AS9145 APQP/PPAP Requirements, and Source Inspection.
  • Low voltage (28Vdc) and/or high voltage (610Vdc) electrical power distribution and management
  • Servo amplifier design, manufacturing, and test experience
  • Working knowledge of design for environmental qualification including EMI/EMC design and qualification principles
  • IPC-6012, IPC-6013, IPC-6018, subordinate IPC standards/guidelines, MIL-PRF-31032, MIL-PRF-55110, MIL-STD-883, MIL-PRF-38534, and ASME Y14.5.

Experience Required:
  • At least 5 years of work experience in a relevant function and industry.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with IPC-A-600, IPC J-STD-001.
  • Exposure to Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/ Preventative Actions.

Experience Preferred:
  • The following experiences are preferred but are not required for the position:
  • Experience with design of PCBA/CCA for aerospace or defense industries.
  • Experience with fabrication processes, equipment, test, and instrumentation common in the Aerospace and Defense Industries
  • Experience with production line validation, test, equipment, instrumentation, and qualification of fabricated products.
  • Exposure to ISO 9001 and AS9100 Quality Systems and AS9102B First Article Requirements or comparable industry standards.
  • Experience with Low voltage (28Vdc) and/or high voltage (610Vdc) electrical power distribution and management.
  • Experience with Servo amplifier design, manufacturing, and test experience.

Education Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or Related Technical Discipline

Education Preferred:
  • The following education is preferred but is not required for the position:
    • Certification to IPC-A-600
